Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition is set to be held on 9-10 February 2013. And according to spokesman John Burow, “As dam levels are estimated to be around 95% the annual competition should provide a great weekend of fishing and family activities.”
Fishing conditions at Lake Boondooma are at their best, the water quality is excellent and significant weed beds have now returned after the 2011 floods.
Entry costs for 2013 will remain at $20 for adults and $5 for juniors (aged 16 years and under). Competition entry fees do not include the cost of camping at the lake. Registrations will be accepted for the fishing competition from 12.30pm on Friday 8 February at the Stocking Association Clubhouse.
The fishing and family fun weekend is a major fundraiser that supports the ongoing stocking of Lake Boondooma. The 2012 competition attracted 641 competitors, including 132 juniors, enjoying a great weekend of camping, fishing and family activities.
Accommodation available at the lake includes five self-contained cabins, a communal bunkhouse, powered sites, non-powered lakeside camping areas and modern amenities blocks. For information on camping fees go to the South Burnett Regional Council website www.southburnett.qld.gov.au
All anglers must have a current Stock Impoundment Permit. Permits can be purchased from the kiosk at Lake Boondooma or online at www.dpi.qld.gov.au.
