Dartmouth Women’s Fishing Classic
  |  First Published: September 2008

The Dartmouth Women’s Fishing Classic attracts fisherwomen from all around Australia, and this all-ladies event could not be in a more beautiful and popular fishing spot.

To be held on November 14/15, the all-ladies fishing Classic has over $7000 worth of prizes to giveaway in several different categories. Women can compete as individuals, in pairs, or in teams of three. Daily prizes will also be awarded for the largest fish, including the target species rainbow trout, brown trout and European carp.

Like last year, there will be a Club Competition, where the best four fish daily will be awarded the Most Successful Club prize. Master Baiter Tackle Shop from Benalla, recently purchased by Anton and Elizabeth Brunner, will be providing prizes for the winning club in 2008.

The Reel Deal team from Tallangatta/Dartmouth were last year’s winning club, and took home Rapala Free Time Combos and an all-expenses-paid flyfishing weekend with Indulgence Fly Fishing. And they are sure to make another appearance to defend their reigning title.

The Dartmouth Classic is a catch-and-release competition, so entrants must minimise the handling of their catch, quickly photograph the fish against a measure and release it.

Over the weekend there will be some great entertainment for anglers and their families, with ‘Fashions on the Field’ on the Friday night, following a buffet dinner and a disco for partygoers. Saturday night will feature Rodney Vincent, a vocalist from Albury.

The major sponsors this year will be Southern Cross Ten and Ray White Real Estate Wodonga. Other sponsors will include BCF Albury, Masons the Complete Fisherman, Elks Hunting and Fishing and Capper’s Pro Tackle. These local fishing stores will be providing prizes for the pairs and teams events.

Weavers Newspapers from Frankston have come on board again with a cash donation for the junior prizes, and Daryl and Ann Leary, builders from Beechworth, will sponsor the daily species events.

Dartmouth Women’s Fishing Classic merchandise will once again be available, including shirts, stubby holders and caps. We have a great fishing bag for each participant this year with our fish logo on the front, a stubby holder, a Loftys Lure, a fishing magazine and a Dartmouth Motor Inn pen.
