The Mount Isa Fish Stocking Group is delivering on its promise to make this years Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic the biggest ever with the inclusion of an all new event to the 2012 program.

Living up to its catch cry of ‘fishing being just the beginning’, the 2012 event will now involve an all new Sunday activity dubbed the Barra n Beatz luncheon.

Featuring a delectable lunch menu showcasing fresh local barramundi, entertainment by local performers and activities for the kids the first ever Barra n Beatz luncheon aims to increase crowds on the final day of the competition; while offering the community an affordable day out suitable for the whole family.

Made possible with support from the Swap it Don’t Stop it and Outback & Involved funding programs the Barra n Beatz luncheon will additionally feature a free shuttle service all aimed at complimenting the host of popular activities already featured on Queensland’s richest freshwater fishing competitions program.

The good news seems to keep rolling to for the Mount Isa Fish Stocking Group and the Fishing Classic, with Event Manager George Fortune announcing that Xstrata will once again support the event in 2012 as the official naming rights sponsor.

“Xstrata has been a long-time supporter of the Fishing Classic and Fish Stocking Group. It is with great pleasure that I announce that in 2012 Xstrata will once again be the naming rights sponsor for the Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic,” Mr Fortune said.

“Continued support by Xstrata and our many valued sponsors has enabled the event to grow and develop to the level it is now. With this announcement the Fishing Classic Committee will be able to move forward with greater preparation to make the 2012 event the best it can be.

“We look forward to being able to deliver more exciting news in the future.”

The 2012 Xstrata Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic will kick off on Thursday October 25 with the inaugural Special Guest Slide Show at the Buffs Club featuring Scott Hillier from Creek to Coast; followed by all of the action out the Lake from Friday October 26.
