Hume Classic even hotter
  |  First Published: October 2011

The Rotary club of Bellbridge and the Commercial Club fishing section again will host the Yamaha Lake Hume Classic, on 5 and 6.

This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better than the great success last year when 492 competitors took to the lake to competed for more than $25,000 in prizes.

The event’s epicentre will be the Lake Hume Tourist Park behind the waterslide, where all the registrations, meals, presentations and sponsor displays will take place under a much bigger marquee.

The waterslide will be operating in daylight hours for the kids to enjoy and the pool is open to all competitors to have a dip after a long day on the water.

All competitors will receive an info pack containing stubby holder, event details sheet and a map of lake with weigh stations marked. Also entry into the major prize and the many spot prizes that will be held on Saturday Night. Junior and lady entrants will also get a dip into the lucky lure box. Entry is $60 for adults and $25 for juniors (under 16 years on November 4).

Organisers have made a few changes in the way prizes are given away.

Up to 50 lucky door prizes will be given away on the Saturday night and the early bird prize will also be drawn then.

There are now prizes for first, second and third biggest yellowbelly in senior and junior sections. There will also be an overall champion section in senior and junior male and female categories determined by the total fish caught of any species (carp excluded).

There are no changes in the other species categories.

The teams event this year will go on total fish caught by the team, instead of total length.

This year there will be two mystery length draws, for yellowbelly only. The length will be randomly drawn and the competitor who has registered a yellowbelly closest to that length wins. If two or more anglers have that length the earliest fish registered wins.

There will one draw for each day of the event.

The lure wall will be back; all registered anglers can enter this section simply by donating a lure to the wall, old, new, ugly or different. If you put a lure on the wall you go into a random draw – first number drawn out wins the wall and the Lake Hume Classic will start the wall off with a selection of new lures.

So pack up the family and get along to a great weekend at the Yamaha Lake Hume Classic. With over $30,000 in prizes, you will be guaranteed a weekend of fun and you may even win a boat package. – LHC
