  |  First Published: November 2011

Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition spokesman John Burow says that with dam levels estimated to be around 85% the annual competition to be held on 11 and 12 February 2012 should provide great fishing.

Fishing conditions at Lake Boondooma are at their best and water quality has improved to better than before the 2011 flood.

Entry costs for 2012 will be $20 for adults and $5 for juniors aged less than 16 years. Competition entry fees do not include the cost of camping at the lake. Registrations will be accepted for the fishing competition from 12:30pm on Friday February 10 at the stocking association clubhouse.

The fishing and family fun weekend is a major fundraiser that supports the ongoing stocking of Lake Boondooma. The 2011 competition attracted 359 competitors, including 62 juniors, who enjoyed a great weekend of camping, fishing and family activities.

Accommodation available at the lake includes 5 self-contained cabins, a communal bunkhouse, powered sites, non-powered lakeside camping areas and modern amenities blocks. For information on camping fees go to the South Burnett Regional Council website www.southburnett.qld.gov.au.

All anglers must have a current Stock Impoundment Permit. Permits can be purchased from the kiosk at Lake Boondooma or online at www.dpi.qld.gov.au.
