Whitsunday Boat and Lifestyle Show 2011
  |  First Published: September 2011

Returning to the Australian Boat Show calendar in 2011 is the Whitsunday Boat & Lifestyle Show in Airlie Beach. This great regional Boat Show started in 2002 and is about to enjoy its 9th year with a new venue and a new date. The Whitsunday Boat & Lifestyle Show is now on the September 10-11 and will be held at the new Port of Airlie Meridien Marina at the end of the Airlie Beach main street.

The marina boasts brand new facilities, marina berths, leading retail, and there is also the Outrigger resort featuring stunning apartments and a wonderful outlook.

In prior years the show has enjoyed patronage from the Whitsundays and the region, and drawing on nearby communities of Townsville and Mackay. Visitors to the show can enjoy a weekend in the Whitsundays

“What better place for a boat show,” says Dalwyn McErlane representing the Rotary Club of Airlie Beach, organisers of show. “Combining the best weather period of the year and the Whitsunday Island backdrop, we have every boaties dream.”

The Whitsundays are well known for their cruise-ability, great fishing stories, and sensational racing amongst the islands. Exhibitors will be demonstrating their products at the show, so come along and find a bargain. On show this year will be popular brands such as Suzuki, Yamaha, Whittley, Seaquest and Kevlacat just to name a few.

The two day show will include booths, static displays and on water display. There is also show attractions, helicopter rides, the Sunday Seafood Festival at the show, the Great Whitsunday Fun Race and after race party on Saturday.

The great news is that parking will be available for about 1000 vehicles on site, as Port of Airlie has gone out of their way to make space available at the northern end of the marina for exhibitors and show attendees to park.

These various features from the Port of Airlie complex will make the logistics of the Whitsunday Boat and Lifestyle Show far simpler than previous years and yet another reason for attendees to set aside September 10-11 for a great weekend at the Port of Airlie.

Visitors and companies alike interested in coming to the show or exhibiting are invited to visit the boat show web-site at www.whitsundayboatshow.com or call Dalwyn on 0408 461 192 for more information about this weekend get away.

Great Whitsunday Fun Race and Outdoor Party

The Whitsunday Boat and Lifestyle Show isn’t the only attraction in a weekend of aquatic activity in the Whitsundays. Saturday September 10 is also the Whitsunday Fun Race.

Famous throughout the Australian sailing community, the Whitsunday Fun Race is a casual affair, racing with a festive air including fancy dress and live figureheads. Raced in the waters adjacent to Airlie Beach, the yachts proceed around a large triangle to return to a finish line right on the beach.

The event also features fun for the kids during the day and a fabulous after party with live music and other entertainment. For more information, visit the Whitsunday Sailing Club web site.
