October 7-9, 2011 sees a new and exciting spearfishing symposium being held at the Brisbane Showgrounds. The Blue Edge Symposium is part of the Oceania Dive and Ecotourism Expo.

For the first time ever the cream of Australia’s leading blue water spearfishing participants will present a series of entertaining and educational presentations on blue water hunting and blue water photography. Proven underwater cameraman such as Brett Vercoe, James Sakker and Rob Torelli will showcase their finest work and offer expert advice on underwater image making. Torelli will show his amazing video action from the Coral Sea of the Big Eye Tuna aggregation along with hunting for monster bluefin tuna (weighing over 600lb) from New Zealand. Simon Latta will showcase his exciting sailing spearfishing adventure from the South Pacific whilst Arron Odell will discuss Cairns – The New Spearfishing Frontier. Former world record holder Erez Bertus will also do a presentation on freediving.

There will also be a huge display of all the latest freediving and spearfishing gear including a great range of blue water spearfishing equipment. Never before has the general public been able to view such a large range of equipment under the one roof.
