The Sunshine Coast Game Fishing Club (SCGFC) is the leading tag and release game fishing club in Australia.

With numerous Australian Champion boats and anglers in its ranks, the SCGFC tournaments are well respected and attended from their base at the Kawana Waters Hotel. This base allows for the traditional raft up of boats big and small adjacent to the hotel where the formalities take place.

The Spring Shootout is one of the first tournaments of the season and this year will be held from 30 September to 3 October.

The even kicks off with the calcutta and skippers briefing on Thursday night. Fishing will take place on Friday and Saturday. The tournament will conclude with a presentation brunch starting at 10am Sunday, to ensure those travelling long distances home on this same day.

This action packed tournament will draw anglers from all over Queensland as well as New South Wales and Victoria.

A light and heavy tackle tournament, the Spring Shootout will cater for every anglers’ discipline from the light tackle grounds like the 8 Mile off Mooloolaba to the heavy tackle grounds like the Noosa Canyons and Wide Cape Moreton.

Anglers will be rewarded in all categories with trophies and prizes from diamond earrings for ladies and Tiagra and Tyrnos reels and rods.

Juniors will also be well rewarded for their efforts. Prizes for the top five boats over 6.5m and under 6.5m also be up for grabs.

With marlin already being caught this season the Spring Shootout Tournament looks set to break all records.
